Nokia announced that 122 million mobile devices has been shipped worldwind in Second quarter of 2008. It is 40% of total no. of phones sold by all the handset manufacturer in the same period.
As geographic area, the number of nokia handsets sold in Q2 2008 :
1. Asia Pacific - 36.4 million units
2. Europe - 27.1 million units
3. Middle East and Africa - 21.1 million units
4. Mainland China - 17.6 million units
5. Latin America - 15.3 million units
6. North America - 4.5 million units

Sony Ericsson may buy Spice Mobile
Sony Ericsson is in talks to acquire BK Modi’s Spice Mobile. Sources close to the development confirmed that the Modi group had demanded Rs 80-100 per share, which values Spice Mobile at around Rs 700 crore. BK Modi directly owns about 64% in Spice Mobile. However, it is not clear if Sony Ericsson will accept this price. Spice Mobile shares closed at Rs 22.7 on BSE on Thursday, which gives the company a market capitalisation of around Rs 177 crore.

Samsung i8510, a new slider symbian phone from samsung with 8 MP camera. Samsung i8510 also has GPS & Wi-Fi. It is QVGA device with Symbian 9.3 OS with S60 UI. This phone will be released in Mid of August. It will be available in 8GB and 16GB inbuild memory. It also has microSD memory card slot for expanding memory.

emoze announces J2ME-based application
Free push-email provider, emoze has announced the J2ME-based application. The new application will be released next month and will work on an array of devices made by Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia (Series 40), among others. It will be the first in the world to use Lwuit technology in push communication.
